Obituary published on Legacy.com by Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Inc. - Morehead on Jul. 25, 2024.
Tony Kegley, age 68, of Morgan County, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren.
Born March 28, 1956, in Rowan County, Tony was the son of the late Chester D. Kegley and Geneva Winkleman Nolan. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Lawrence Edward Kegley, Donald Ray Kegley, Raymond Hubert Kegley, and Larry Junior, and one sister, Diana Kegley.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Janet Stevens Kegley, whom he never failed to show love and referred to as his best friend; three children, Teresa Moore (Dwayne), April Gilliam (Steven), and Tony Chester Kegley, Jr. (Michelle); four grandsons, Zachary Gilliam (Jessica), Adam Gilliam, Logan Gilliam (Maddy), and Ethan Moore; two granddaughters, Kelsey Burnett (Kyle) and Lainey Adkins; and five great grandchildren, Addy, Gabe, and Brady Burnett, and Roman and Everlynn Gilliam.
Other survivors include his brother and special sister-in-law, Ervin and Patricia Kegley of Morehead; a stepbrother, Terry Owens (Tessa) of Morehead; two sisters, Sharon Faucett (Kirby) of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Jeanetta Kay Chapman of Springfield, Ohio; and a very special niece and nephew, Ervin Kegley, Jr. and Jenny Rose. Tony leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends that will miss him greatly.
Tony was a hardworking man who never failed to provide for his family. He began logging at an early age alongside his father and older brothers. Later he began his own business known as Kegley Logging. His hard work was known by all that knew him.
Tony enjoyed rebuilding antique cars and trading, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Tony was proud of his children and grandchildren as they are of him.
Of all the many things he accomplished throughout his life, we are most thankful for the Easter morning three years ago, when Tony gave his heart to the Lord and shared that great news with his family and friends who got to witness his baptism on May 30, 2021.
He attended the Wells Creek Enterprise Baptist Church. Our hearts will always have a void, but the promise of joining him again in Heaven will be something we will hold on to.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 am. Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with son-in-law, Steven Gilliam, grandson-in-law, Kyle Burnett, and grandson, Zachary Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow in the Kegley-Nickell Cemetery on McGlone-Hitch Road.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive,
Morehead, KY 40351.
Pallbearers: Zachary Gilliam, Adam Gilliam, Logan Gilliam, Ethan Moore, Ervin Kegley, and Charles Junior Adkins.
