Mr. Tony Lynn Lummus, 78, former longtime resident of Ruston, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29th, 8:52am, at the Fairmont Nursing Home, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Tony was born in Houston, TX, to his father Charles Lummus, and mother Helen Elaine Lummus. Tony was the second sibling of his brothers and sister, Johnny (Buddy) Lummus, Billy Lummus, and Charlcie Lummus.
Tony began his journey in this life during his early teens working small jobs to build experience before joining the United States Army. There, he gained special training to become a Radio Operator, Info Operator, Intel Specialist, along with various other honorable titles. His most honorable role of all was his experience as an Infantryman serving in the war in Vietnam. There, he selflessly defended our country before his honorable discharge. When Tony’s military career ended, he moved to Louisiana and became a postman, working for the United States Postal Service before meeting his wife.
Tony met and married his late wife, Linda Gail Clark (Lummus) in Bossier, Louisiana. He became a step father to Linda’s two surviving daughters, Melissa Ann Guillory Parkman, and Sharon Kay Guillory, and eventually becoming a grandfather to his surviving grandchildren Nathaniel Guillory and Sharissa Martinez. Tony was also the father of his two surviving biological children, son Tony Lynn Lummus Jr and daughter Keri Marie Lummus of Texas.
Tony was a character. He had a great sense of humor and sarcasm. He enjoyed being what he called “contrary” by sharing his facetious and snarky wisecrack. But under the humor he was always loving, supportive, and compassionate to his family and friends. He provided for his family even into his last days. When Tony wasn’t cracking jokes, he was engrossed in his favorite hobbies such as; reading Westerns,Sy-Fi, and comic books, playing board games and card games with his family, building intricate puzzles, and even taking his chances at gambling. When Tony was ready for a break, you could always find him indulging his sweet tooth by enjoying all his favorite snacks. These are the memories we will cherish of him.
As Tony’s life has come to an end, we honor his wishes in sending his remains to Ruston, Louisiana, to be placed next to his beloved wife in the Ansley Cemetery. There, we will acknowledge his life and thank him for not only his contribution to our precious country, but the place he held in all of our lives. We love you, Tony.
