Tony McAlpin, 70, passed away September 20, 2025. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst handled arrangements. Mr. McAlpin loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed anything outdoors including farming, hunting, and fishing. Mr. McAlpin had natural talent at just about any competitive sport. He played pool and football at a young age and 4-man relay in 1972 at Copiah Academy. Mr. McAlpin was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and attended Sardis Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Stuart McAlpin, Sr. and Helen Harper McAlpin, and brothers, Billy McAlpin, Jr. (Tootie), Prentiss Stephen McAlpin, and Hiram Leslie. He is survived by his wife, Shannon McAlpin; sons, Carey P. McAlpin of Crystal Springs and Hunter A. McAlpin (Julie) of Harrisville; stepson, Tommy Howlington (Deanna) of Brookhaven; brother, Christopher Craig of Thousand Oaks, CA; and grandchildren, Austin McAlpin, Fallon McAlpin, and Kashton McAlpin.
