Tony Lawrence Rivera, known affectionately as Tony to his friends, and Tonio to his family, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2024, in Austin, Texas. Born on July 16, 1956, in Billings, Montana, Tony's journey through life was marked by his kind-hearted nature, thoughtful gestures, and passionate spirit.
Raised in Cleveland, Ohio, after moving from his birthplace, Tony was a proud graduate of Lincoln-West High School. His upbringing in Cleveland shaped him into the hardworking man he became, following in his father's footsteps as a dedicated construction worker. Tony's commitment to his craft was evident through his active membership in the local labor union 310, where he not only contributed his skills but also formed lasting friendships.
About 15 years ago, Tony made the decision to move to Llano, Texas, seeking new horizons and opportunities. His love for the community and the life he built there was so infectious that it inspired his sister Josephine and his niece Michelle to join him five years later, and his niece Dawn to move there just five months ago. His presence in Llano was a beacon of warmth and camaraderie, much like the man himself.
Tony's life was enriched by the simple pleasures he cherished. An avid fisherman, he could often be found by the water's edge, basking in the serenity of nature and the thrill of the catch. His prowess at playing pool was well-known among his friends and family, and many an evening was spent sharing stories and laughter around the pool table.
He was a man who lived his life with a generosity of spirit that touched everyone he met. Tony's kindness was a constant, his thoughtfulness a gift, and his passion for life a guiding force that inspired those around him.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Rivera, and his brother, Manuel Rivera. His legacy continues through his beloved family: his mother, Esther Rivera; his sister, Josephine Rivera; his brother, Peter Rivera; his sister-in-law, Kim Rivera; his sons, Antonio Rivera and his wife Robin and their children, Antonio Jr., Landon, Dominique, Miranda, and Emma; Michael Rivera and his wife Katie and their children, Rylan, Wrenley, and granddaughter Ariya; his daughter, Misty Rivera and her children, Paige, Aaliyah, Joshua; his nieces, Dawn Rivas and Michelle Rivera; and his goddaughter, Ariana Rivas. Each of them carries a piece of Tony's spirit, his love, and his memories.
Tony's life was a testament to the enduring bonds of family, the value of hard work, and the importance of following one's passions. As we remember him, we celebrate not just the life he lived but the countless ways he enriched ours. His laughter, his counsel, and his unwavering support will be deeply missed, but the stories of his life will continue to be told with fondness and pride.
In his passing, Tony leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and integrity. He will be remembered as a pillar of his community, a devoted family man, and a true friend. His was a life well-lived, full of moments that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we bid farewell to Tony Lawrence Rivera, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the time we shared with him. His journey on earth has ended, but his spirit remains with us, guiding us with the same kindness, thoughtfulness, and passion that he embodied every day. Rest in peace, Tony. Your memory will forever be a beacon of light in the lives of those you touched.
