Tony A. Roig, a cherished father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at Valley View Healthcare on the morning of Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 7:15 am. Born on December 12, 1953, in Goshen, IN, Tony's life was a tapestry of hard work, dedication to family, and a love for the simple pleasures in life.
Tony grew up in the warm embrace of his parents, Clotilde Roig and Judith (Bailey) Rietz, both of whom predeceased him, as did his brother, Terry Roig. Despite these losses, Tony's resilient spirit shone through in the love he poured into his own family. He was a father to his daughters, Shawn (Chad) Backert and Maria (Ray) Miller, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a supportive brother to his sister, Maria Egar. His role as a family man stood at the forefront of his life, guiding his actions and decisions with unwavering commitment.
Professionally, Tony was known for his strong work ethic and practical skills. He spent many years in the manufacturing industry and later shared his knowledge and affable nature with customers at the local Auto Parts Store. His colleagues and customers alike respected him for his reliability and straightforward approach to solving problems.
Tony's passions extended beyond the walls of work and home. He found solace and joy in the beauty of nature. His trips to Puerto Rico, where the ocean's vastness met the horizon, were among his most treasured experiences. An avid fisherman, Tony reveled in the tranquility of the water and the thrill of the catch. These moments of serenity were not just hobbies but a reflection of his deep appreciation for life's simple wonders.
