Traci Sudduth Obituary

A Homegoing Celebration Remembering the Life of Ms. Traci LeAnn Sudduth, 49, of Jacksonville, Alabama, will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Merrell Hall-Jacksonville State University with Rev. Christopher Taylor officiating. A public viewing for Ms. Sudduth will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026 from 3-7 p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home - Anniston. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory-Anniston. A proud resident of Jacksonville, Alabama, but born in Anniston, Alabama, Traci LeAnn Sudduth, a beautiful baby girl was welcomed to this world by her loving parents Thomas J. Sudduth and Sandra Fox Sudduth on August 15, 1976. Traci was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her, unwavering in her compassion and tireless in her service to others. Traci was a spiritual woman brought up in the First Baptist Church Eastwood in Jacksonville, Alabama and later in life she often found inspiration through services at First Congregational Church in Birmingham, Alabama, even during times when she worshipped from afar. Her faith guided her actions, allowing her to live a life filled with purpose and joy. Since COVID, she listened to services on Zoom and found inspiration through many online worship opportunities. Traci had a profound impact on her community, dedicating her career to education as a teacher within the Clayton County School System in Riverdale, Georgia for ten years and serving for ten years in the Oxford City School System in Oxford, Alabama. A proud graduate of Jacksonville High School and Jacksonville State University, she was also a cherished member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Traci LeAnn Sudduth was a deeply compassionate person who truly wanted to serve others. After moving back to Jacksonville, she looked for ways to give back to the community and help wherever there was a need. Her spirit of service was evident through her extensive volunteer work with various organizations, including the Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center, where she worked diligently to provide food assistance and support for families in need. Traci's heart was especially devoted to the young women in the Calhoun County detention center to encourage and uplift those facing difficulties. It was through her selfless acts of kindness-serving at the local soup kitchen, assisting families during the Christmas holidays, and nurturing her community-that her legacy of love and compassion flourished. Also, during the Christmas season, she helped with what we called the Chief Ladiga Trail, where she assisted in placing people on the Jacksonville Community Center bus so they could ride through the trail and view the Christmas decorations. Traci helped in any way she could and never hesitated when help was needed. As we celebrate the rich tapestry of her extraordinary life, we honor the memories, laughter, and love she shared with us. In her personal life, Traci had a green thumb, taking immense pride in her garden and nurturing the beauty around her. Cooking was a passion she shared with others; her famous potato salad became a beloved staple at family gatherings, and her kindness was felt in every meal she prepared for others. Traci LeAnn Sudduth, returned to the arms of the Lord on January 13, 2026, at the age of 49 after answering the call of her Master saying, "Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant". Traci is now reunited with her father, Thomas J. Sudduth. This loss, while great, never dimmed her light and her ability to pour into others. She is survived by her beloved mother, Sandra Fox Sudduth, her devoted brother, Tim Sudduth, and his loving wife, Micole Sudduth. She leaves behind a vast extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and countless others touched by her warmth and gentle heart. As we mourn the loss of our dear Traci, we also celebrate her legacy of love, kindness, and community service-an eternal flame that will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. Her compassion and gentle spirit will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center in honor of Traci LeAnn Sudduth reflecting her love for helping those in need at [myjcoc.org](https://myjcoc.org/) and Arts Project of Cherry Grove https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?donation=apcg . While finalizing the 60th Anniversary for
the students that desegregated Jacksonville City School in 1965, we needed a yellow ribbon for the first African American Marker in Jacksonville, Alabama. The Sudduth family did not hesitate. Traci made a beautiful yellow ribbon and it was tied to the historical marker on September 7, 2025, marking the 60th Anniversary of the Jacksonville Trail Blazers. We are grateful to the Sudduth family for
making a difference in the lives of others through community service, political representation
and social acceptance of all that has strenghten all of our hearts and lives.
