Tracy McGarry Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 12, 2023.
Tracy Ann McGarry passed away peacefully on July 9, 2023, surrounded by family at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She is preceded in death by her dad, Dick Carle; grandparents, Elsie and Marshall Anderson. Survived by husband of almost 19 years, Mike; beloved sons, Joseph (17) and Jacob (15); loving mother, Jeanette (Phil); brother, Mark (Jill); nephew Ben; niece Allison; in-laws, Bob (Anne), Maureen (Mark), Pat, Dan, Dave (Aili), & James, nephews Nick, Andrew & nieces Molly, Shaughnessy, and Kieren; aunt and uncle Mary & Jerry Anderson, cousin Bernie (Lynn) and so many relatives.
She leaves so many friends.
Tracy loved life and was always active in things she was passionate about. She was a figure skater all throughout her childhood, active in the Maplewood Figure Skating Association. She made so many lifelong friends while pursuing this passion, skating and traveling around the country figure skating. When she was skating with the Maplewood Precision Line, she even figure skated before the premier of the movie 'Ice Castles' in Minneapolis.
When her kids became active in sports and other activities, Tracy wanted to be a part of that too. When they were young, she volunteered for La Semana Culture Camp, which celebrated the rich Latin American Cultures with so many Latin American adoptees and their siblings. She loved it, especially working in the kitchen and volunteering with so many other great adoptive moms.
When Jacob started swimming with the SEMs swim club, Tracy learned what swimming was all about and volunteered to help sell SEMs apparel. She was always so encouraging to Jake to be the best swimmer he could be. When Joe started to play baseball, Tracy was always the mom in the front row, cheering him on and 'hounding' the coaches to 'put him on the mound,' to pitch, regardless of where he was in the weekly pitch count.
When the kids started elementary school, Tracy wanted to remain close so started working at Bailey Elementary School as a much-loved Paraprofessional. We still run into so many people in Woodbury who remember her in this role.
She also loved her two miniature Golden Doodles, Jazzy and Jackson.
Tracy was a wife for nearly 19 years, a best friend, a mother who so loved her children - she is the person who made our house a home. We so love her, and we miss her, but we accept that it was her 'time.' She deserves the peace that she finally has.
There will never again be anyone such as we have known Tracy: wife/mom/daughter/sister/friend.
Public visitation will be Monday, July 17th from 5-8 pm at O'Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home, 8700 Valley Creek Road, Woodbury. Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, July 18th at 11 am, with visitation 1 hour prior at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 8260 4th St. N., Oakdale. Interment Calvary Cemetery, St Paul.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
