Tracy Ann McDonald Witzigman

AHOSKIE, NC - Tracy Ann McDonald Witzigman, age 53, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on May 30, 1972, in Lakewood, New Jersey, to Thomas James McDonald, Sr. and Elizabeth Akerberg McDonald.
Tracy led a life filled with love, dedication, and a passion for nurturing those around her. She leaves behind a legacy enriched by her career as a defensive driving school instructor, alongside her work experiences at Jamesway and Town & Country Bakery. Tracy had a true talent for cake decorating, which brought joy to many.
Her deep affection for all living creatures was evident in her love for animals and adventurous trips to zoos and safaris. Tracy also cherished nature, taking solace and inspiration from visits to the mountains, exploring waterfalls and national parks.
Above all, Tracy held her family close to her heart. She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Robert Witzigman; her daughters, Katelyn Allen and husband James of Edenton, NC, and Stephani Witzigman of Ahoskie, NC. She is also survived by her mother, Elizabeth McDonald of Barnegat, NJ; her brother, Thomas James McDonald, Jr., and wife Laura of Barnegat, NJ; her uncle William Akerberg and wife Barbara of Georgetown, SC; and her aunt Dale Surdi and husband Joseph of Toms River, NJ. In addition, Tracy is remembered by her stepchildren, Wayne and Kayla Witzigman; and grandchildren Hunter McDonald, Riley Allen, Quay'veon McNeill, Kaliegha McNeill, Kaiya McNeill, and Kamari Ford. Her extended family and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends will also keep her memory alive. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas James McDonald, Sr.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Tracy's life on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, North Carolina. The family will receive guests immediately following the service to share memories of a cherished life.
