Travis Bond Ely Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Meredith-Clark Funeral Home - Morgantown on Oct. 17, 2023.
Travis Jacob Bond Ely, age 21, passed away all too soon on Monday, October 16, 2023 following a tragic automobile accident. He was a resident of Nashville and current student at Purdue University.
Travis was born August 28, 2002 in Columbus, to his parents, Kevin T. and Brenda S. (Bond) Ely. He was a 2021 graduate of Brown County High School and was in his Junior year at Purdue University studying Mechanical Engineering Technology. While in high school, Travis excelled in both academics and sports. He graduated high school with honors and was a three-sport letterman in basketball, baseball & football. Travis earned All-Conference in all three sports his senior year and was the recipient of the Brown County High School 'Golden Eagle Award' for Athlete of the Year.
While at Purdue, Travis was on the Purdue University Bass Fishing Team, where he was known as a talented and accomplished angler among his fishing peers. He was a founding member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (Purdue Chapter) and served on their board. This past summer, Travis accepted and worked a Co-Op position with Bass Pro in Springfield, Missouri, where he was hoping to work fulltime after graduation.
Other memberships include the Nashville Christian Church, where he was active as a youth leader and the Brown County Fishing Club. Travis was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed deer, turkey & mushroom hunting. Most of all, his true passion was his love for his family and being a friend to everyone. Travis always welcomed you with a smile and left by saying, "God is Good!"
He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Brenda Ely of Nashville; brothers, Christian Ely of Houston, TX, and Austin (Vanessa) Ely of Versailles; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Bond of Helmsburg; paternal grandparents, Carol and Jim Roberts of Brown County; aunts and uncles, Barb Foley of Unionville, Brad Bond of Nashville, Jon Ely of Brown County, and Shawn (Jay) Frederick of Columbus; niece and nephews, RaeLynn, Wesley and Wyatt Ely; and cousins, Greg Rea, Emelia Frederick, Delaney Bond, Solomon Gearheart and Brady Bond.
Travis was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bill Bond; and a cousin, Kyle Foley.
A Celebration of Travis' Life will be conducted by Pastors Tim Bond and Kendall Yeaton on Saturday, October 21st at 10 a.m. at the Nashville Christian Church, 140 S. Van Buren Street. Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 20th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown.
