Travis Lancaster Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burbage Funeral Home - Berlin on Feb. 25, 2026.
Travis Lukens Lancaster was a shining light of love that passed away far too soon. All who knew

her felt the loss on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 as her harrowing journey with cancer ended.

Travis is survived by her husband George William (Bill) Lancaster and son Lincoln Michael

Lancaster; her parents Michele Chais (Steven) and William Edward Lukens (Amy); siblings Josh

Lukens (Aly) ; Luke Lukens; Mariah Lukens (Patrick); David Lukens (Kelliann), and Ian Lukens

(Sarah); mother-in-law Judy Bonar; father-in-law George Lancaster; sisters-in-law Jennifer (Rich)

Thompson; Jessica Cosgrove; brothers-in-law David and Michael Cutlip and many beloved

nieces, nephews, extended family, dogs, and cat.

Born at the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Tacoma Park, Maryland on November 27, 1978,

Travis was raised in Gaithersburg and North Potomac. An animal advocate and avid athlete, she

loved to run, roller-skate, surf, and was a competitive swimmer. After graduating from Wooten

High School, Travis got a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from University of Delaware and a

Masters in Art Therapy from the University of Maryland.

Travis started her career in education as an art teacher at Somerset High School before moving

to Stephen Decatur High School where she was a visual arts teacher and coach for cheerleading

and track and field. It was at this time that she and Bill grew roots in Ocean Pines where their son

Lincoln was born. Becoming a mom was her greatest joy.

Being a life-long learner, Travis was up for the challenge of finding a body, mind, and soul

connection so it's no surprise she followed her passion for Yoga. After receiving certification in

Bikram, she studied under Jared McCann at Lighthouse Yoga School in Brooklyn, New York.

In an effort to share these gifts, Travis combined her teaching experience with her love for

physical and spiritual health. In 2019, she and her best friend, Dana Fields, opened Meta Yoga

Studios in Salisbury and moved to West Ocean City in 2024. Practicing flexibility and strength

grew into her life's work and spread far beyond her reach at Meta. It became her legacy.

Loved ones of Travis want to thank the caregivers at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore

and Tidal Health Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, please donate in

her memory to the ICU at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional.

Travis lived how she loved - fiercely loyal and with grace. She taught all who loved her to do the

same. Family and friends will be celebrating Travis on Friday, March 6th from 1-5p.m. at Seacrets

on 49th Street in Ocean City, Maryland.
