Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burbage Funeral Home - Berlin on Jan. 5, 2026.
John Anthony Pinnero, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, in Berlin, Maryland. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He was the beloved son of the late John and Mary Pinnero.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, he was a dedicated golfer and loyal fan of the New York Islanders and New York Yankees. One of his favorite times of the year was March Madness. He looked forward to filling out his tournament bracket and cheering on his favorite basketball teams. He received his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College. He went on to work for Mobile Oil and earned his MBA at night from St. John's University. Upon graduation he began his career in Pensions and Benefits with M&M Mars Inc. He retired early to start his own financial planning practice and then moved to West Ocean City, Maryland where he lived for 23 years.
John served in the National Guard and was immensely proud of his Italian Heritage. He was a member of the New Jersey Sons of Italy, the Ocean City Sons and Daughters Italian Club, and the Elk's Club in Ocean City, Maryland.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of over 63 years Christine; children Andrew and his wife Christina, Evelyn and her husband Al, Emily and her husband Miguel, Elaine and her husband Vincenzo; sisters Catherine and Frances. John was a cherished grandfather to Isabella, Marcello, Matteo, Alexander, Adrienne, Tessa, Steven, Larissa, Vincenzo, Lydia, and Lucas. He was a great pal to his grand-pets as well.
His greatest joy and blessing was being 'Papa' to his grandchildren. He took immense pride in each of them and loved sharing his passion for winemaking, the stock market, golf, basketball and hockey. He drew from his life lessons, imparting the importance of self discipline and family values, ensuring his legacy will continue through each grandchild.
Visitation will be held at The Burbage Funeral Home on Wednesday January 7, 2026 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11am Funeral Mass on Thursday January 8, 2026 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
