James V. Lodico, 61, of County Route 3, passed away Thursday evening at Ellis Hospital, in Schenectady, NY.
He was born May 10, 1964, in Queens, NY, son of Vincent Vittorio and Giavanna Dolores Lodico. In 1982, He graduated 4th in his class at Aviation High School in Long Island City, NY. He received 2 scholarships for Brooklyn Polytech and MIT and attended Brooklyn Polytech Institute of Brooklyn, NY majoring in mechanical engineering in 1982. Also, receiving the NYS Governor's Honorary Citation for Art in 1982. He majored in computer science at St. John’s University from 1983-1985.
He married Jennifer Nostrand on February 23, 1998, in Queens, NY. They were married for 28 years, raising a beautiful family of 6 boys and 5 girls and 20 grandchildren with 3 more on the way.
Jim worked as an airplane mechanic at Fairchild airport, in Long Island, New York but left due to the unethical work environment.
He worked as a sheet metal mechanic for 20 years for the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 28 in Mineola, NY.
He was an avid street racer as a young man earning him the names Jimmy Chevelle and Astro. He and the cops were on a first name basis.
Jim loved to fish, work on old muscle cars with his wife, draw, teach his children, sit at the fire pit, keep busy, and enjoy his big family. He loved his dogs Diesel and Remington, as well as his daughter and son-in-law's dog, Otis.
Besides his wife, Jennifer, he is survived by six sons, Joseph (Sharla), Thomas (Oksana), and John (Katie), all of Carthage, and Timothy, Titus and Matthew, of Plessis, five daughters, Heather (Shawn) Glick, Carthage, Amber (Elson) Glick, Felts Mills, Emily (Rodney) Hurst, Summer Shade, KY, Ellen (Dan) Metzler, Lewisburg, PA, and Laura Lodico, Plessis, 20 grandchildren, a brother, Larry (Elana) Lodico, two sisters, Linda (Bobby) Dean, Queens, NY and Janice Lodico, Virginia.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, February 15th, from 1-3 pm and from 5-7 pm at the Thousand Islands Christian Church, 26631 Simpson Road, Plessis, New York 13675. The funeral will be at 10 am, Monday, February 16th at the Thousand Islands Church in Plessis, New York. The funeral will be live-streamed at https://youtube.com/live/VPWMFmOJ5Nc?feature=share. Burial will be private at the family home, in Plessis.
