Travis J. Peters, 49, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 10, 2023 in Duluth, MN.
Travis leaves a huge hole in the hearts of so many people. During his lifetime, he made helping people a priority. He would help anyone with anything without question or expecting anything in return. Travis’ big personality made him the life of the party. If you needed a DJ, cook or a good conversationalist, he was your guy. His smile and laughter could light up a room and his presence brought life to every encounter.
Travis was born on February 7, 1974 to Thomas and Sharon Peters in Hutchinson, MN and grew up in Two Harbors, MN. He eventually settled in Duluth, MN with his family.
While Travis made his career as an auto mechanic, his greatest love was to care and provide for his family. He found enjoyment in traveling to new places, watching, and cheering on his children in their various activities, fishing with family and friends, and going to estate sales. He also enjoyed mountain biking and snowboarding and tinkering with all sorts of vehicles. From motorcycles to buses, lawn mowers to snowmobiles, he loved understanding how things worked and would find a way to fix them if they were broken. He also loved to just sit around and talk to people whether he had known them for years or 5 minutes, he could spark up a conversation with anyone.
Travis was proceeded in death by his mother, Sharon.
Travis will be greatly missed by his partner of 24 years, Amy Backen, their children Drake and Alexis, his father Tom, sister Nicolle (Bill) Schultz, John and Mary Backen, Angie (Karl) Zwaschka, Joe Backen, Curt (Melissa) Backen, his nieces and nephews David, Brianna, Johnnie, Emerson, Henry, and Aili, as well as his best friend Cory (Nina and Elna) Oseland, his aunts and uncles, cousins and all of you who meant so much to him.
Visitation will be from 2-4 pm on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. All family and friends are invited to join us to celebrate Travis at the Tipsy Misquito in Two Harbors starting at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe account has been created for Amy, Drake and Alexis to help support them for the future without Travis. Travis Peters GoFundMe
