Trent Thomas Shuey, 72, passed away on September 1, 2025 in Joplin, Missouri. He was born on September 11, 1952, in Centerville, Iowa, to the late James and Mary (Torrey) Shuey. He spent his early years in Unionville, Missouri.
Trent's mother trained horses and passed her love of Arabians on to him. After serving in the Marines, Trent earned his AA in Horse Husbandry at Shasta College in Redding, California, then following in her footsteps, spending time training Arabians.
Trent's service to his nation was distinguished and courageous. Just out of High School, he answered the call of duty and served as a Marine in the Vietnam War, where he demonstrated extraordinary bravery. His valor in combat was recognized with the awarding of the Purple Heart, an honor that spoke to his selflessness and heroism.
After his honorable discharge, Trent returned to civilian life. He found solace in the open road, riding his beloved B King Motorcycle, and capturing the world through the lens of his camera, just as his father had. Trent's love of music resulted in his learning the guitar in his teens which became yet another love of his life.
Trent was a student of life with many skills and talents. Trent traveled extensively throughout his life. He changed careers multiple times, had an abundance of hobbies and projects. Trent quickly became proficient at anything and everything he put his mind to. Above all, Trent was a family man. His greatest pleasure was the time he spent surrounded by his loved ones as well as his devoted companion, his Goldendoodle Troll. Troll never left his side.
Trent is survived by his children; Marcella Bierbaum with husband David, and Trista Dyer with husband Dustin. Grandchildren Connor Dyer, Jackson Dyer, Faith Diane Bierbaum, Elias Trent Bierbaum; and older brother, Bruce Shuey.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by Ray and Roberta Webb, who lovingly raised Trent and his brother from a young age, after the passing of his parents.
Trent will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Cremation arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri. There will be a service at a later time in the Spring of 2026, where he will be laid to rest with his parents in Unionville, Missouri.
