Wayne Eugene Shuey of Sun City, California passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2025. He was 92 years of age. Wayne was one of seven children born in Grant, Nebraska to Leroy Shuey and Clarice McPheeters on January 22, 1933. Wayne's early years in Nebraska laid the foundation for the qualities that would define him: a loving nature, kindheartedness, and a friendly disposition.
His formative experiences in the heartland of America instilled in him a strong sense of duty, which he carried with him into adulthood as he served with honor in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict era. He enlisted at the age of 17. Wayne's military service was a point of pride and contributed to his lifelong sense of discipline and responsibility. After his time in the Marines, Wayne transitioned to a successful career with General Dynamics, Pomona and later Government Liquidations. His colleagues knew him as a man of integrity, a mentor who led by example, and a team player who always had a smile and a kind word to share.
He had 3 sons with his first wife Joann Ohlinger. They raised their children in Oregon and California. He met his wife Sharon working at General Dynamics and married in 1992. He and Sharon experienced and lived in many fun places, Rialto, Ca, Las Vegas, Nv, Medford, Or, Manteca, Ca and Sun City, Ca. They enjoyed traveling to places throughout the U.S., but Wayne was always happiest with quite time on the porch.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, his parents and 4 of his siblings. He is survived by his sons, Tim (Candy), Greg (Julie), Todd (Dawn) and his ex-wife Joann, all of Oregon, sisters Barbara Harvey of Wyoming and Margaret Sasse of Or, stepchildren Robin Calligan of Ca and Patrick Burke of Ok, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson.
As we say goodbye to Wayne Eugene Shuey, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. A man of great character, he leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and connection. Though he may have departed from this earth, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California and his ashes placed there. At his request some of his ashes will be spread at Ogalala, Nebraska.
