Trey Ray Richard Wilkinson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 11, 2024.
Trey Wilkinson, III
Ray Richard "Trey" Wilkinson III, 33, of Bostwick, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side in the comfort of his own bed and home, Sunday July 7th, the day after he celebrated his 33rd birthday with his children and family. In recent months, Trey and his family received the devastating news that he had stage 4 colon cancer. He fought the fight of his life to stay on this earth with his family and friends, but ultimately it was God's will to bring him home last Sunday.
Trey graduated from Palatka High School in 2009. During his high school years, he was very active in athletic programs such as football and weightlifting and reminisced often of how athletics positively impacted his high school tenure. Recently he fell in love with coaching his sons for the Pop Warner Athletic Association and was greatly looking forward to the upcoming season.
Trey's first job was at Jerry's Drive In, employed by Roy Strickland, as a dishwasher and ultimately a cook when Roy figured out, he knew how to fry chicken well. After high school, Trey made the transition to the construction industry following his family's footsteps working for Vallencourt Construction in his early 20's.
Trey also was employed with Georgia Pacific in Palatka for 9 years and made everlasting friendships there. He decided in 2020, he was ready to go back home to Vallencourt Construction as his final career movement and enjoyed every solitary second of being there. Besides being with his family at home, Vallencourt was the next best thing for Trey. He loved his work family immensely and the field work he was given the opportunity to do and that he did well.
Trey loved life to the fullest and had a way of always staying positive. He loved to be surrounded by family, friends, and work colleagues.
He enjoyed making people laugh and appreciated every single friendship he made over the years. No matter if he hadn't seen someone in 10 years, that was his buddy, and could pick up right where was left off. Singing was also a beloved passion of his. You could always count him belting one out, whether it was a silly song he replaced with his own words, a song he just made up, or song he grew up listening to with his dad. He absolutely loved Karaoke.
Every one of Trey's friends and family knew that he would always be there to help. If anyone was "in a bind" they could count on Trey (even if it was 2:00am and someone was stuck in the mud an hour away). Trey will always be cherished and remembered for his compassion for others.
Above all else in this world, Trey loved being a husband and a father. His wife and his children were his absolute pride and joy. Nothing else worldly could compare to them in his eyes. Trey will always be remembered as the best husband and father there ever was.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ray Richard Wilkinson, paternal grandmother, Sandra Baggs Kirkland, maternal grandfather, Eugene McFarland, maternal grandmother, Alida "Marie" LeBouef, uncles, Eugene Mark McFarland, John E. Burkes, and James R. Burkes and sadly numerous cousins.
Trey is survived by his wife, Amber Wilkinson, their children, AJ Torres (13), Carson Wilkinson (8), Ray "Knox" Wilkinson IV (7) and Audree Wilkinson (5), his father, Ray Wilkinson Jr, mother, Sandra Wilkinson, a brother, Joshua Wilkinson (Brandi), a sister, Sheena Kinlaw, nieces, Peyton Wilkinson, Tenley Wilkinson, Taylor Wilkinson and Magnolia Kinlaw, nephews, Zamman Kinlaw, Augustine Kinlaw, and Liam Kinlaw, In-laws, Eli and Sherry Billeter, sisters-in-law, Cambria Lyon, Kyah Billeter and Eden Billeter, so many aunts, uncles and cousins and his closest childhood friends, Dalton Wilkinson (Anna), Michael Keene (Amber), TJ Adkins (Ashley), Dalton Driggers (Caitlin), Jacob Wilkinson, Dayman Spengler (Kelsey), Ryan A. Wilkinson and Hank "Tater" Williams, all who he loved so dearly.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Trinity Baptist Church in Palatka with Pastor Willie B. McKinnon, III officiating. Burial will follow in Bostwick Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday beginning at 1:00 pm until time of services.

Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
