Haisley Funeral and Cremation Service - Fort PierceTrina Fay Neilson, 55, of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away on September 22, 2025.
Born on January 17, 1970, in Fort Pierce, Trina was the daughter of Eva Jo and the late Matthew “Benny” Patten Jr. She graduated from John Carroll High School in the Class of 1988, continued her education at Indian River State College (Class of 1990), and earned her degree from the University of South Florida in 1992.
On November 6, 1993, Trina married the love of her life, Matthew S. Neilson. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures.
Professionally, Trina was a proud member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and achieved certification as a Medical Compliance Specialist – Physician (MSC-P). She was dedicated to her career and respected for her knowledge and expertise.
Outside of work, Trina found joy in life’s adventures. She loved traveling, visiting theme parks, relaxing at the beach, and going on ocean cruises. Above all, she cherished her family and the time spent with them.
She is survived by her loving husband, Matthew S. Neilson; mother, Eva Jo (James) Shaw of Blairsville, GA; brother, Jeffrey R. (Brittany) Shaw of Dallas, GA; nephew, Holden Shaw; cousin, Brian (Kris) Knowles of Davenport, FL; and stepmother, Sandra Lee Patten (Stewart) of Franklin, NC.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, J.B. & Beulah Knowles and Matthew “Ben” & Alma Patten; her father, Matthew “Benny” Patten Jr.; her uncle, J. Russell Knowles; and her aunt, Annie Knowles.
Trina will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted daughter, caring sister, and loyal friend. Her adventurous spirit, warm smile, and love for her family will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
A gathering will be held on October 25, 2025, 10:00 AM, at Vero Beach Church of Christ, 3306 20th Street, Vero Beach. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM.
