Troas Lou Phillips, age 96, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 6:42 am on Thursday January 29, 2026, at her residence. Born on February 11, 1929, in Churubusco, she was the daughter of Ralph and Vida (Smith) Krider.

Troas attended Churubusco High School and graduated with the Class of 1947. On November 12, 1960, she married Delmar M. Phillips in Huntington. They lived in Aboite Township, Allen County for 10 years, before moving to Jefferson Township, Whitley County in 1970.

Troas was a homemaker, helped her husband farm, and also worked for Wolf & Dessauer and Montgomery Ward, where she helped set up the sports clothing departments.

Growing up, Troas and her family attended Blue River Church of the Brethren. She was a member of Church of the Brethren in South Whitley. Troas enjoyed square-dancing, clogging, bowling, puzzling, cross-stitching, gardening, playing solitaire, and nearly always winning at Yahtzee. She also loved wintering in Donna, Texas.

Survivors include her children Scott Phillips of Huntington, Valerie McKinzie and Brian (Cheryl) Smith, both of Fort Wayne; stepchildren Su (Glen) Reid of Uniondale, IN, Jean Ann Phillips of New Haven, John (Karen) Phillips and Roy (Maureen) Phillips, both of Fort Wayne; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Delmar M. Phillips, brothers Max L. Krider, Conrad "Jean" Krider, Sr., Joe W. Krider, and Phil R. Krider.

Funeral services for Troas will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday February 2, 2026, at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with calling from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.

Memorial contributions in memory of Troas may be made to Stillwater Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
