Arthur "Art" Orin Cummins, 88, of Columbia City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at his home. Born May 31, 1937 in Churubusco, he was the son of Henry Brown Cummins and Vera (Bills) Cummins.

Growing up in Whitley County, Art graduated from Larwill High School with the Class of 1955. In 1957 Art signed up to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorable discharged in 1968. After serving his country, Art was a welder at Parker Hannah. On August 7, 2007, he married Cynthia "Cindy" (Waters) Hartman. Art was a member of the VFW Post 5582 and the American Legion Post 98, a former member of the Eagles 1906, AM Vets 2919, and the Navy Club Ship 48 & 245. For many years, Art had been active with the Whitley County Korean War Veteran's Honor Guard. He had attended an Honor Flight on May 22, 2019 and was a recipient of a Heart of Gold award in Whitley County.

Art is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Cynthia "Cindy" Cummins; step-son, Jonathan (Janelle) Hartman; step-daughter, Laura Fritz; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn Cummins in 1983; second wife, Mary Ann (Boyer) Cummins; sister, Georgia Lock; half-brother, Garland Kiester; half-sister, Geneva Christlieb; and brother-in-law, Larry C. Lock.

Per Art's wishes, there will be no public services. Veteran's honors will privately be rendered by the Whitley County Korean War Veteran's Honor Guard. Memorial donations may be given in Art's memory to Korean War Veteran's Honor Guard. Donations may be mailed to DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
