Walter George Roberson Sr.

Walter George Roberson, Sr., 96, formerly of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in Colorado. Born February 16, 1929, in Churubusco, Indiana, he was a son of the late Cam and Clara (Gross) Roberson.

He graduated from Churubusco High School Class of 1947. On June 28, 1947, he married Donna Cummings. They were high school sweethearts and married for 74 years before her passing on January 4, 2022. Walter was most proud that Donna had the only orchid corsage at the high school prom. Walter was a farmer, realtor, limo driver and machinist. He lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana for 32 years after farming and moved to Colorado at the age of 92 in 2022.

He was known as a devoted and loving grandpa who always showed up for his grandchildren. He was a story-teller who had a story for anyone who would listen. Walter never stopped dreaming about his future and his plans for the family. Walter was "family famous" for his spaghetti recipe and always wanted to have a party. Big band music was his lifelong passion, and he expected family and friends to join him in Indianapolis for a big band concert for 14+ years.

Walter is survived by his children, Walter George (Britt) Roberson, Jr., Sharon (Bill) Malone, and Lynn (Carol Cook) Roberson; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 6 great great-grandchildren. Along with his parents and beloved wife Donna, Walter is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Joyce Roberson; sisters, Edna May Gordon and Mary Esther Winebrenner; and brother, Bernard Roberson.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, March 21, 2026, with calling one hour prior at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
