Troy Lee Moore, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and community member, passed away on December 17, 2024, in Corinth, Mississippi, at the age of 77. Born on April 6, 1947, at the Smith Clinic in Selmer, Tennessee, Troy lived a life full of dedication to his family, career, and community.
Troy's educational journey placed him in the spotlight early on, where he earned the honor of Salutatorian at Bethel Springs High School and played on the basketball team. Troy furthered his education at the University of Tennessee at Martin, graduating with a degree in Agriculture. While in college, he joined the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and maintained lifelong friendships with many of his fraternity brothers following graduation.
Troy began his career in banking and finance with Production Credit Association in Selmer, which later led him to First National Bank, eventually becoming Volunteer Bank. In 1997, Troy took a bold step and opened TLM Financial Services, a venture he proudly operated until 2009. His commitment to excellence in his profession was mirrored in his service to the community. He served on the McNairy County Commission for 24 years, and for 2 years on the Selmer Board of Aldermen. He was a proud member of the McNairy County Republican Party and served on the Chamber of Commerce Board. At the time of his passing, Troy was a member of the McNairy County Audit Committee and the McNairy County Airport Authority, positions he had held for many years. He served his country honorably in the Tennessee Army National Guard, and was an active participant in various community groups, including the Selmer Rotary Club, where he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. His enthusiasm for gathering with friends was evident as he enjoyed being part of "Henry's Lunch Club" on Wednesdays and attending the "Breakfast Club" at Rockabilly Cafe for many years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed deer hunting and vegetable gardening, passions that connected him to nature and provided him with a sense of fulfillment.
Faith was a cornerstone of Troy's life; he was a devoted member of Selmer First Baptist Church, where he served on the Budget Committee and participated in various church activities.
Troy is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Patsy Moore, of Selmer, TN; two daughters, Kristi Kizer (Murphy) of Murfreesboro, TN and Mandi Mulder (Syd) of Brentwood, TN, and five cherished grandchildren: Grant Kizer of Memphis, TN, Meg Kizer of Charleston, SC, Mia Mulder of Brentwood, TN, Molly Kizer of Union City, TN, and Gib Mulder of Brentwood, TN. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family and friends who mourn his passing.
