With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Troy Nesmith Jr., age 23, of Rochester, New York, who tragically departed this life on July 31, 2025, on the New York State highway.
Troy was born on March 9, 2002, in Pennsylvania and was lovingly raised in Rochester, NY. His life, though far too short, was filled with love, laughter, and a spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Troy was known for his warm smile, his protective heart, and the deep love he had for his family.
He is survived by his devoted parents, Troy Nesmith Sr. and Markitta Nesmith; his loving siblings: Ja'Quan Coleman, Ja'Kees Nesmith, Troyannah Nesmith, TaLeah Chandler, Jeremiah Parker, Tyrone Porter, Dewanna Nesmith, and Jozlynn Parker; and his cherished niece, Mila Karns.
He is also survived by his beloved paternal grandmother Loretta Nesmith Palmer and paternal grandfather Calvin McDonald; maternal grandparents Rose and Richard Glover.
Aunts Andrea Chandler, Felisha (Greg) Simmons, Nicole Jaycox, LaKeisha Palmer, and Janiece Washington.
Uncles Brandon Jaycox and Eddie Nesmith Palmer.
Great-aunts Cindy Davis, Margie Nesmith, Charlene Martin, and Teresa (John) Chatman.
Great-uncles Roland (Melody) Chandler and William (Paulina) Chandler.
Troy was blessed with a large extended family and many friends who will miss him dearly.
Troy was preceded in death by the love of his life, Katherine Pena, whose memory he carried with him daily. Their bond was one of deep love and unbreakable connection.
Troy's memory will live on through the stories, the laughter, and the love he shared. His life, though brief, made a lasting impact, and his legacy continues in the hearts of all who knew him.
The world was truly blessed to witness your light-you were a star in every sense, shining brightly and leaving an unforgettable mark. Now heaven has gained an angel so deserving of wings. You will always be loved deeply and missed beyond words
Troy's smile and laughter lit up every room he walked into-he had a way of bringing warmth and joy wherever he went.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Glory House International, 111 Chestnut Street, Rochester, NY 14604.
