Troy C. Smith, age 84, of Blissfield went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 10, 2025 while under the loving care of his family and the staff at Hampton Manor. He was born March 30, 1941 in Bryans Mill, Texas. In 1962 he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Eloise Webb, and together they celebrated 63 years. In 1969 they moved from Lincoln Park, Michigan to Blissfield where they raised their four girls. Troy retired from Blissfield Manufacturing after more than 25 years as a purchasing agent. A founding member of Blissfield Baptist Church, Troy shared his faithful love for the Lord with his family and community. As a believer in the saving grace of Christ, Troy eagerly shared the truth of John 11:25. "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."
Surviving are his wife, Virginia (Webb) Smith and four daughters. Jody (Frank) Bailey of Marquette; Molly (David) Bradstreet of Adrian; Amy (Albert) Beck of Eddy, TX; and Sarah (Pete) Smith-Conlan of Waterford. Sisters Linda (Jerry) Gruwell and Judy (Bill) Shaw also survive. Celebrating his legacy are his seventeen grandchildren: Benjamin (Jennifer), Jonathan, Hannah, Elisabeth (Kevin), Rachel (Zach), Steven (Reagan), Frank, Samuel (Rachel), Ellen, Leah (Richard), Conor (Allie), Josiah (Hannah), Virginia Joy (Jacob), Kristen, Daniel, Nathan and Evan along with eight great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Troy was preceded in death by his mother Evonne (Pruitt) Smith, father Ted Smith, step-mother Virginia Smith and brother, Ted. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws Ellsworth and Virginia Eloise Webb.
A private family service will take place at the Riga Cemetery, officiated by Troy's son-in-law, Dr. Albert Beck. Memorial contributions can be made to the Blissfield Baptist Church or the Riga Township Fire Department. Arrangements have been made with the guidance of the Marry Funeral Home, Blissfield.
