Surrounded by the love of his family, Troy Joseph Smith, 47, entered eternal rest on February 25th , 2026. He was born on July 7, 1978, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to parents Johnnie and Cathy Smith. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother, whose life will have a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have known him.
Troy will be remembered as the pillar of his family — a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love and dedication never wavered. He carried a quiet gentleness that revealed itself to those who knew him best, and a generous spirit that was always willing to help anyone in need. Above all else, Troy loved his wife and his boys deeply, and his family was the center of his world.
He had a natural curiosity and passion for technology, always tinkering, learning, and finding ways to make things work better. When he wasn’t exploring the world of IT, Troy enjoyed scuba diving and was a lifelong Star Wars fan. His strength, loyalty, humor, and generous spirit will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Troy is survived by his loving wife, Sheree Smith; his sons, Caiden Smith (wife Bethany Smith) and Ashton Smith (girlfriend Hailey Lott); his cherished grandson, Oliver Smith; his mother, Cathy Smith; and his brothers, Brent and Jared Smith – along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Smith.
His celebration of life will be held at a later date, to be determined by his family. Though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that Troy is now at rest and reunited with those who have gone before him.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that you please consider making a donation to the installation of an oak tree, which was Troy’s favorite.
