Koup Family Funeral HomeTroy Louis Walker of Toronto, died on Tuesday, October 1, 2025, at his home, at the age of 73.
Troy was born on March 8, 1952, the son of Murray Phillip and Mary Belle (Grandstaff) Walker. He was raised in Wichita, attended local schools, and worked in the family business, Walker's Delivery Service. In 1970, Troy joined the United States Army, serving 13 months in Vietnam. He served with honor and dignity during his time in the military.
On August 3, 1974, Troy was united in marriage to his best friend, Roxanne Jane Fiant. They began their married life in Wichita before Troy went to work for the Corps of Engineers, a job he held from 1976 until his retirement in 1993. Troy and Roxanne then settled in Toronto, where they raised their two daughters. Troy later spent 14 years working for Microlite in Buffalo, Kansas.
In 2020, Troy made a profound and life-changing discovery: he learned that his biological father was Victor Alan Busch. Though the connection came late in life, Troy embraced this new chapter wholeheartedly. Beginning in 2021, he frequently traveled to meet his other family. These reunions were a source of great joy and meaning for Troy, who often spoke of the incredible happiness he found in these connections, which filled a deep, unexpected void in his life.
He was a proud member of VFW Post 2712 and the Yates Center American Legion. He attended the Toronto United Methodist Church.
Troy is survived by his beloved wife, Roxanne; their two daughters: Janell Robinson-Akerberg and husband Conrad, of Toronto and Jalean Walker of Eureka; his honorary son, Mike Watson of California; nine grandchildren; five siblings: Judy Ann Kightlinger of El Dorado, Melissa Markel of Tucson, AZ, Lori Crammond of Arkansas, Richard Busch of Pennsylvania, and Teresa Jeffers of Michigan; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and six siblings: Barbara Jean Donaldson, Robert Winfield Walker, twin sister Terry Louise Walker, Murray Phillip Walker II, Jackie Walker, and Jeff Busch.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Toronto United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Lawrence and Pastor Jerry Clark of Eureka officiating. Inurnment will follow at 10:00 A.M., on Friday, October 17, at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield with Pastor Jerry Clark officiating.
