A memorial service for Turner Charles "T.C." Brown has been scheduled for 2 PM Friday, December 19, 2025, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Kevin Sanders officiating.
Turner Charles Brown, age 78, passed away on December 14th, 2025, at home surrounded by loved ones. Born on April 24, 1947 in
Bastrop, Louisiana, a son of the late Dewey and Johnnie Brown. Charles, also known by many as T.C. was a man of boundless energy and intelligence. Through his journey of 78 years, he touched many lives with his wisdom, humor, and an unwavering spirit of perseverance.
Driven by an endless thirst for knowledge, T.C. was a lifelong learner and a devoted teacher to anyone who would listen to his long winded explanations. His wealth of knowledge did not come from a university, he was not that lucky in life. He was self-taught and discovered how to do things his own way. He had a passion for discovering how things worked and why. There wasn't anything that he couldn't do, which was the reason behind the nickname MacGyver. This spirit, which characterized his life, translated into lessons he earnestly imparted onto those around him.
Among the many milestones of his well-lived life, T.C. was also a jack of all trades. In his younger days he worked off shore, started up his own saw mill, and he even built his first aircraft at home and taught himself how to fly it. T.C. was also an entrepreneur, inventor, business owner, and so much more. He owned and managed numerous gas wells while working as an EI (electrical engineer) at Riverwood. Once he retired from Riverwood, he decided to begin a new adventure and follow his love of aviation.
His love of aviation took off once he opened Hanger One. The Monroe Regional Airport was home of Hanger One, an FBO that provided essential services for general aviation, private and charter flights. From fueling aircrafts to maintenance as an AMP to instructing those who wanted to be a pilot, T.C. was in heaven. He loved sharing and teaching others about flying. Although he had his fixed wing license, his true passion was helicopters. He found great joy in giving others their first experience of flying in his personal helicopter that he often kept parked in his backyard. T.C. ended his flying career with more than 15,000 hours of flight logged.
After a successful career in aviation, T.C. moved onto his next adventure, which was opening Lampkin and then Solar Air Supply. He enjoyed traveling in places like Mexico, Canada, Alaska, and more. T.C. found an enormous amount of joy going mud riding with his children and their friends who he treated like his own. His loving spirit, bright smile, and ability to talk to anyone for hours made him easy to love for so many.
T.C. was a giver in many ways too. He would give his time to anyone in need and he'd give his opinions, even if they weren't necessarily wanted. Once on his trip to Mexico he passed out school supplies, clothes, and medical supplies to children in need. T.C. may have had a hard outer shell and could be your worst enemy if you messed with those he loved, but under all of that he was kind, giving, generous, and so much more. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered!
