Tyler James Petersen of Underwood, MN tragically passed away as a result of an injury sustained at his worksite on May 29, 2025.
Tyler was born in Fergus Falls on August 28th, 1987 to Cheryl Petersen. He graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 2005, and on April 13, 2019 married Sophie Russell at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Sophie and Tyler have two sons; Axel, age 5 and Diesel, age 3 who are the lights of their lives.
From a young age, Tyler was a driven, diligent, hard worker, employed over the years by Lake Region Healthcare, Turtle Lake Seamless and Comstock Construction Company. Tyler's reputation, expertise and work ethic contributed to the rapid success of his company, Ty It Together, LLC which he and Sophie founded in 2022. This was one of many dreams they had for their future together. He was proud to show his work to Axel and Diesel, pointing out to them the many projects he had contributed to in the area.
When Tyler wasn't working, you would find him mowing, working on cars, smiling, cracking jokes and building dreams with Sophie and the boys. Tyler had a knack for anticipating others' needs and wants without being asked. Everyone was drawn to his gentle nature, including animals and kids. He was quick to lend a hand and enjoyed teaching the boys about things he loved, such as going to the races (dirt and ice), fixing his cars, building Legos and riding anything with a motor. He taught the boys how they should treat others, modeled a strong work ethic and was a kid at heart. Tyler's laugh, smile, and attitude will live on through his boys. To know Tyler was to love him.
Tyler is survived by his wife, Sophie, children Axel and Diesel, parents Cheryl Petersen, Jose Briceno, Marc Soliah; siblings Troy (Becky) Petersen and their children Ava and Miles, Morgan (Dalton) Olson, Mariah (Shawn) Preston, Adam Lerbakken, parents in law Brad and Paula Russell, sister-in-law Hattie (Hunter) Haarstad, long time work partner and friend Jamie Norman and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dale and Maggie Petersen, uncles Fred and Dave Petersen, Frank Servantez and aunt Kelly Petersen.
Memorial contributions for Sophie and the boys may be directed to Farmers State Bank locations in Underwood, Fergus Falls, Dalton and Rothsay.
