Tyra Davey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Funeral Center - Scott Chapel on Mar. 12, 2026.
Tyra Regina Davey, age 69, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was born on July 31, 1956, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She departed this life peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, strength, and unwavering love for her family.

Tyra received her education through the Greater Clark County School System and proudly graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1975. As a young woman, she displayed remarkable determination and athletic ability. A standout member of the Jeffersonville High School Track Team, Tyra excelled in Shot Put and Relay events, earning numerous awards and advancing to State Competitions. Her discipline, competitive spirit, and dedication were qualities that stayed with her throughout her life.

At the age of 17, Tyra accepted Christ, was baptized, and became a devoted member of Truth for the Nation Non-Denominational Church. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, shaping the way she loved, served, and cared for others. Tyra worked faithfully in the food service industry, serving the students and staff of Jeffersonville High School for more than five years before continuing her career at Kingfish Restaurant. Known for her warm smile, strong work ethic, and genuine kindness, Tyra made lasting impressions on those she served and worked alongside.

Tyra was united in marriage to the love of her life, Roy Milton Davey, Sr., and together they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with three sons, and Tyra devoted herself wholeheartedly to her role as a loving wife and nurturing mother. Her home was a place of comfort, support, and unconditional love. She took great pride in her family and found her greatest joy in seeing them thrive.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Lawson (Chambers) Croudep, and her brother, James Timothy Croudep.

Tyra leaves to cherish her precious memory her loyal and loving husband of 52 years, Roy Milton Davey, Sr.; her sons, Roy Milton Davey, Jr., Michael Lee Davey, and Dominic Mantel Davey; her sister, Rose Ann Croudep; her brother, Michael Anthony Croudep (Stephanie); and her cherished grandbabies, Isaiah Malik Davey, Michael Mantel Davey, and Mar-Kaya Lee Smith. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Tyra's life was beautifully marked by faith, resilience, and deep love for those around her. Her strength, compassion, and gentle spirit will continue to live on in the lives she touched and in the family she so dearly loved.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church (1501 Thomas V. Bryant Drive, Jeffersonville). Burial will follow in Eastern Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Friday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Legacy Funeral Center, Scott Chapel, 921 Main Street in Jeffersonville. Though she will be deeply missed, Tyra's love, faith, and legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
