A Beloved Brother, Son, and True Giant at Heart
The final whistle blew for Tyree Jervone Howard, 25, of East Orange, New Jersey, on June 22, 2025. Though the game ended too soon, Tyree lived every quarter with passion, laughter, and unwavering love for his team. his family!
Born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Tyree was a proud graduate of Westlake High School. He completed what many called an extraordinary life path, living 22 years longer than expected, and his career was not defined by titles, but by relationships. To those who knew him, his greatest calling was being a devoted son and a loving and protective brother.
A lifelong New York Giants fan, Tyree wore red, blue, and white like a badge of honor. Whether it was game day, or just an ordinary afternoon, he lived with a champion's heart. He dreamed of becoming a police officer, a dream he carried with dignity and determination.
Tyree found joy in the simplest things: playing video games with his sisters and friends, sharing laughs, and making everyone around him feel like MVPs. His kindness, loyalty, and joy lit up every room, and his presence was both comforting and unforgettable.
He was the proud pet dad to his beloved animals: dogs Prince, Piper, and Tank; a cat named Tigger; and two cherished birds, Luigi and Jewel.
Tyree leaves behind his loving mother, Fatimah Sales; his father, Tito Howard; and his beloved sisters: Otavia Howard, Teyana Howard, Shaliyah Howard, Zoey Howard, and Shayla Abbott. His grandmother Betty Howard. great-grandparents: Lucille Sales and Luther Sales. His aunts: Latosha Hollman, Charneik Jones, Carla Barnes, Ketechia Shye Sales, and Jasmin Holloman, and his uncles: James Hollman, Raushawn Sales, and Shamar Caesar, sister-in-law Ny'Asia Elvin and a host of extended family members and friends, who also mourn his loss and celebrate his unforgettable life.
Tyree was preceded by his grandmother, Marlene Hunter, and his grandfathers, James Hunter, James Jones, and Aunt Pamela Sales.
Though Tyree's time with us was short, his life was full! He lived with love, played with heart, and left behind memories that will remain our most cherished highlights.
Rest well, Tyree; your game may be over, but your legacy plays on!
