Mr. Tyrell Maurice Benjamin, 47, of Weldon, North Carolina transitioned on Saturday, July 15, 2023. Tyrell was born January 7, 1976 to the parentage of Norman Durham Benjamin and Dorothy M. Johnson Benjamin in Northampton County.
Tyrell received his formal education in Northampton County, North Carolina and later transferred to Halifax County where he attended Weldon Middle School and graduated from Northampton West High School. He was known for his love of sports, most notably football in high school where he played an extended season.
At an early age, Tyrell was baptized at Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church in Jackson, North Carolina.
He was employed with Wood & Blacknor for many years and enjoyed and loved his family.
Tyrell leaves to continue in this game of life, his parents: Norman D. and Dorothy J. Benjamin of Gaston, North Carolina; his children: Ahdaysiah and Terez Benjamin of Weldon, North Carolina, Tarell M. Roberts of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Marianna Williams of the home; his granddaughter: Camryn Jones of Weldon, North Carolina; his siblings: Jeffery G. Johnson (Crystal) of Garysburg, North Carolina, Kenneth R. Benjamin (Jamie) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Marshall L. and Marcus L. Benjamin of Gaston, North Carolina, and Latonya Cotton of Weldon, North Carolina; his aunts: Retha Simmons of Surry, Virginia, Saundra Smith, Rosa Williams (John), Betty Birdsong (Derrick), and Shenita Benjamin, all of Maryland, Mary Copeland (Fred) of Garysburg, Virginia, and Barbara Garrett (Craig) of New Jersey; uncles: Sherman Johnson of Garysburg, North Carolina, Tommy Johnson of Windsor, Virginia, William Benjamin of Halifax, North Carolina, Lloyd D. Benjamin (Shirley) of Gaston, North Carolina, Anthony (Dottie) of Highpoint, North Carolina, and Calvin (Evonne) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; a very special companion: Letisha Williams, who has been by his side; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Visitation for Mr. Benjamin will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon in the Roanoke Rapids chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home located at 520 Smith Church Road in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in the Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Jackson, North Carolina.
