Tyrone Bradley Moore

Tyrone Bradley Moore, 73, made his heavenly transition on Thursday, March 16, 2023. He was born on October 8, 1949, in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Essie J. Moore, Sr. and Maebelle Pope Moore.
He graduated from Academy High School and completed his postsecondary education at Edinboro State College, securing a B.S. in Social Sciences and a Master of Education in Secondary Education, Guidance and Counseling. He started his career in 1972 as a Social Studies Teacher in the Erie School District. In 1974 he joined the staff at Mercyhurst College as Assistant Director of the PACE program. Through the years at Mercyhurst College he moved through the ranks as Director of Career Services and Cooperative Education and Internship Programs, Associate Dean of Student Services and Director of Residence Life/Dean of Student Services, Mercyhurst North East and Associate Vice President of Administrative Services. Upon completing his career at Mercyhurst College in 2008, he spent several years at the R. Benjamin Wiley Charter school as Director of Student Services.
Tyrone served the community in many capacities. He was Board President of Middle Atlantic Association for School, College, and University Staffing, and served on the National Board of Directors of the Association of School, College, and University Staffing. He was a member of the Mercyhurst College Senate. He served 15 years on the GECAC Board of Directors and is an Emeritus member. He was Chairperson of the Board from 1998-2002. He was also on the Erie Human Relations Commission Board and the Erie City/Erie County Library Board. He served on the R. Benjamin Wiley Charter School Board and was chairperson of the R. Benjamin Wiley/Walter L. Osborne Charity Golf Classic for over 16 years. Tyrone was an avid golfer. He was a member of Downing Golf Course and the Brothers Linked Together Golf League. He was a member of the Gem City Elks Lodge #328, I.B.P.O.E. of W., Sons of the American Legion, Post 700 and a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
In addition to his parents, Tyrone was preceded in death by seven siblings: James, Larry, Charles, Stanley, and Essie, Jr., Yolanda, and Yvette Moore; and brother-in-law, Henry L. Myers.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Charlise Moore; daughter, Monica L. McNealy; grandson, Ian A. Moore; sisters: Cynthia Moore and Renee Myers; sister-in-law, Beverly White; brother-in-law, Charles Butler, Jr.; uncle, Clarence Pope (Laculia); and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Family and friends are warmly welcomed to call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.), on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service to be conducted there at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Floyd McClure. Following the service, Tyrone will be laid to rest at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
