Ulyses (Buddy) Anderson Sullivan died January 21,2026. He was born in
Columbia, SC and grew up in Chattanooga ,TN. He was a graduate of East Ridge High School and earned his bachelor's degree from MTSU and later his master's degree from TN Tech.
He sold real estate as an agent and then a broker for 20 years. He then taught school for 35 years primarily as an Algebra teacher at Dalewood Middle School with the remaining few years finishing up at East Hamilton High School. He loved baseball and many times he would be talking about baseball in such detail, most of us would be wondering if he's still talking about baseball. He coached summer ball for many years and later coached at Brainerd High School. Off the field he was always pulling for the underdog whenever any random game was on of any sport being played of any kind. He was patient, kind, and always had a good sense of humor. Buddy was raised in a devoted Baptist household by grandparents who also helped underpin his political views which would remain throughout his life. There aren't enough words to fully describe how incredible our Dad was and how much we miss him. He was the best Dad, grandfather, brother, friend, teacher, and coach.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert (Bobby) Anderson Sullivan; grandparents,
Mr. & Mrs. H.Q. Shirey; parents, Ulyses Anderson Sullivan & Wanda Denton; brothers, Dale and Mikey Denton; sister, Patty Harman; & special pets Maggie, Daisy, Jo Jo & Pepper.
He is survived by his son, Randy Sullivan; daughters Amy Sullivan & Emily Sullivan; grandkids, Caroline, Gabby, Emma, Caleb & Noah; sisters, Linda Barnes & Karen Denton; brothers, Gerry & Steve Denton; & special pets, Benny & LBJ.
