Ulysses Wise Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vincent Funeral Home - West Point on Nov. 7, 2023.
Ulysses Wise, Jr., 46, of King and Queen, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday November 4, 2023.
Ulysses was a proud graduate of Central High School and always enjoyed his classmates and friends. He had a passion for cars, especially older models and enjoyed cleaning them up looking showroom ready. He also had a love for motorcycles and was a past president of the Blu Thunder Motorcycle club where he was known as "Diezel."
"Bookie" as his parents called him, loved them and enjoyed every moment he spent with them. He was a big help in caring for them and always doing what was in their best interest. In spending time with them, "Bookie" learned the art of cooking, and stole the title of "head cook" from his "Pop". When he wasn't helping his folks, he was spending time with his friends. He had a close bond with some of his chosen brothers and they always stuck together. They enjoyed hunting and hanging together outdoors. During football season, you could hear him loud and proud about his San Francisco 49ers.
Ulysses was a member of the the American Legion Post 144, in Sandston, and enjoyed the fraternal brotherhood that ensued. He used to work for Bareford Buick and drove dump trucks and hauled Waddy, Young and Sons Trucking and then for J.E. Banks. Most recently, he was the entrepreneur of his own lawn care business, where he took pride in the lawns he kept. Ulysses was a loved family member and friend, who will be missed by many.
Ulysses is survived by his parents, Ulysses, Sr. "Boonie" and Viola Wise; children, Quan and Aven; siblings, Ricky Taliaferro (Alice), Tara Ra'Oof (Nakim); aunts, Pearline Wise, Linda Edwards, Rosie Jamerson and Marie Taylor; uncles, Pluto Wise and Horace Jones; special friends, Kimberly, Kay, Tony F., Dwight, Dominique, Gail, Mike, Edward, Jay, "Gator", Harold, Isaac, Tony P., Stevie and Brody; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1pm Saturday, November 11, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Hockley, 2356 York River Rd, Shacklefords, VA 23156. A viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2023, from Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181.

My deepest condolences to Mom & Pop Wise. You two are in my prayers more now than before. Sooo many future plans Ulysses and I had back in `97 but our life choices took us on different paths. Although we "parted ways", our love for each other and friendship never did. Binky I am overjoyed I had the opportunity to love you as I did and receive that same love back from you. You will always have my heart and be family. The memories we made I will always cherish. Bink you always had nothing but true love from my family and I. And you will definitely be missed like you will never know. Be easy Binky. Be easy. I love you.

To The Family you have my Deepest Sympathy. Ulysses was my son that wasn´t my son and he will be greatly missed. Just know that you created a wonderful and respectful young man and he will truly be missed. He can now ride that Harley anywhere and at anytime with the angels and truly be a free spirit. Fly high my friend!!!
