It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ursula Kay Cooper, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left this world too soon, at the age of 70. Born on 10/25/1954 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Ursula was the cherished daughter of Josephine and Aaron Ball, who preceded her in passing.
Ursula's life was a tapestry woven with love, kindness, and a devotion that knew no bounds. Ursula was a doting mother to her son, John (Chip) Cooper, and her daughter Ashley Cooper. She was also a nurturing presence in the lives of her family and friends. Ursula is survived by her loving husband John M Cooper, who she married on April 22, 1979, in Houston, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with cherished memories and unconditional love.
Ursula devoted over 45 years to accounting in the petroleum industry as an accountant for Elf Aquitaine for more than 35 years exclusively. She retired in January of 2016 to pursue a love of global travel, attending theatre of all styles, and nature through gardening, bird watching, and volunteering. She was able to finally get her dream car Jaguar XJ 3.0 British Racing Green Metallic Jet with London Tan Interior.
Ursula had a passion for agriculture and horticulture, and tirelessly volunteered hundreds of hours a year to multiple organizations. Ursula was a Texas Master Naturalist and a member of the Sugarland Garden Club. She was also a Texas Master Gardener, where she served as Treasurer, a member of the Tree committee, and was deeply involved in producing the Fruit and Tree Sale annually. She enjoyed many days and nights spent designing signage, coordinating and strategizing with her colleagues. Ursula in her private life had a love of European travel, reading mystery novels and watching British dramas such as Downton Abbey and Death in Paradise. Every Christmas the Cooper family would gather to watch her favorite holiday film. The film was "Scrooge" the musical from 1970. She could be seen quietly reciting every word and lyric, in the shadow of her lovingly decorated tree.
Ursula will be achingly missed by her loving husband, her children, her family, and friends.
