Ursula Gabert Obituary

Ursula Gabert, 82, of Columbia, PA, passed into eternity on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Born in Rockenhausen, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Otto Schäffling and Elise Charlotte Schäffling. She was the loving wife of George Samuel Gabert, who entered eternity in 2008, and with whom she celebrated 44 years of marriage.

Ursula retired from Fulton Bank, where she was a floating Teller for much of her banking career. She was an avid reader of mysteries and thrillers. She savored good food, enjoyed cooking, especially authentic German dishes, as well as baking. Her German Christmas cookies were legendary. A feisty, strong-willed and independent woman, she was well-known for her quick wit, sarcasm, and dry sense of humor.

Above all, Ursula’s faith and family were paramount in her life. She was a life-long member of the New Apostolic Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. One of her greatest joys was travelling to Germany to visit family. Her favorite color was royal blue. And her favorite flower was lily of the valley. She was a loving and caring mother, whose presence and very essence will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her children, Andrea Lessig, wife of Jason, and Mark Gabert, husband of Sandra, and her beloved grandchildren, Leo and Max. Also surviving are her two sisters, Edith Albrecht and Inge Hörhammer, and extended family in Germany. A special acknowledgment to her dearest friend, Ruth Lansinger, for her steadfast love, devotion, and friendship throughout.

A divine service will be held at the New Apostolic Church, located at 2425 Spring Valley Road, Lancaster, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM. An informal visitation will follow, after the church service. Any contributions in Ursula's memory can be made to your favorite non-profit organization or charity of choice
