Robert Gabert Obituary

On Friday, August 22nd, Robert Eugene Gabert passed away in his sleep with family by his side. Born in 1947, He is survived by his son Matthew, his daughter Amanda, and his grandson Riley. Robert dedicated his life to Jesus Christ, who has now welcomed him into his kingdom. His lifelong devotion to helping others in any way he could was truly inspiring.

Robert was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving honorably in Vietnam, and later as military police and even a drill sergeant in the Army reserves. In addition, Robert was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. He loved watching and attending games with his family, doing so as often as he could. He also loved spending time outside, doing things like yard work and building bonfires (and wasn't satisfied until the fire was raging). Most of all, Robert loved spending time with his family, whose lives he enriched with his kind and generous spirit.

Robert leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, understanding, and ceaseless compassion. His family plans to carry on this legacy, never forgetting the man he was, or the valuable lessons he taught them. While he may be gone, his laughter, his smile, and the example he set live on in them.

The loss of Robert leaves behind a hole that can never be truly filled. You can honor him by spending time with loved ones, or by calling someone you haven't spoken to in some time to tell them you love them. Always hold your family close, and keep the bond you share strong.

His burial service will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly Michigan, on Friday September 5th, at 2:30 pm. Please arrive 15-20 minutes early, as the service is restricted to 30 minutes.
