Valada (Young) Thomas, 96, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Heritage Center.

Valada was born in Daylight, Indiana on June 20, 1929 to the late Paul and Caroline (Roettger) Young. She worked at Sunbeam Plastics, Oak Hill School in the cafeteria, Bonanza Steak House, Stewart Sandwiches, and Telesis. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Valada loved all animals and enjoyed artwork. She adored her family and loved spending time with them, especially all her grandchildren while they were growing up.

Valada is survived by her daughters, Donna Plummer and Peggy (Bob) Epley both of Evansville, IN; sons, Steven Thomas of Evansville, IN, and Michael (Laurie) Thomas of Evansville, IN; daughter-in-law, Mary Thomas of Fontana, CA; grandchildren, Christopher Thomas, Nicholas Thomas, Joshua Epley, Robin Epley, Michelle Campbell, Adam Thomas, Julie Thomas, Meghan Thomas, and Erin Thomas; many great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Valada was preceded in death by her husband of 50 plus years, Ivan Thomas; son, David Thomas; her parents; sisters, Eloise Young, Melissa Harbison and Sarah Harrell; brothers, Amos, Willard, James and Noah Young; and granddaughter, Stacy Kirves.

A celebration of Valada's life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with her grandson, Nicholas Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 9:00 am until service time on Monday at Browning Funeral Home.
