Valentin Cuellar

Valentin Cuellar, 97 of Naples, Fl and formerly of Indiana, passed away at West Lafayette Assisted Living 11:20 AM Tuesday March 26, 2024. Mr. Cuellar was born in Maysfield, TX May 13, 1926, the son of the late Jose and Victoria (Martinez) Cuellar. He married Lilia Garcia in Rodriquez, Mexico November 26, 1950, and she preceded him in death April 24, 2019. Valentin first was employed at Standard Forgings in East Chicago from 1950 until 1968. He and his wife operated a grocery store in East Chicago for many years, and later operated a restaurant in Gary, IN until he retired to Naples, FL when he was 65. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in West Lafayette and Our Lady of Guadalupe in East Chicago, IN. Surviving is a daughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Berumen (Jose) of Lafayette, IN, a son, Jose Hector Cuellar (Hannah) of Naples, FL along with three grandchildren Anthony E., Maximiliano J. and Ricardo V. Berumen. He was preceded in death by a brother, Elias Cuellar. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette, IN from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM Wednesday April 3. A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held at St. Mary Cathedral 11:00 AM Wednesday April 3, Fr. Anthony Rowland officiating, with interment in Meadow View Cemetery.
