Valentine S. Gavlick

Valentine S. Gavlick, age 88 of Fairport Harbor, passed away at his home on October 31, 2025. He was born on February 17, 1937 in Kingston, PA to the late Valentine and Mary (nee: Skiengel) Gavlick. He served in the U.S. Navy. Valentine was the manager at PicWay Shoe Mart, and also worked for Ohio Rubber before going to work for the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for 40 years until his retirement in 2008. Valentine enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, tending to his rose beds, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Liz Gavlick; daughter, Lisa (Fred) Guthleben; grandchildren, Fred (Jessica) Guthleben, Aimee Guthleben, Connor Trumbull, Colin Trumbull, Bobby Gladding, and Brandon Gladding; son-in-law, Paul Trumbull; siblings, Lori Cannon, Arlene (Rudy) Adamchak, and Joseph Gavlick. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughters, Valerie Gladding and Cheri Trumbull The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 4-5:30 with a Memorial Service and Military Honors following at 5:30pm at Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077.
