Valorie Lynne Badder

Valorie Lynne Badder of Ionia was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 8, 2023, after a brief illness.
She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Hurt; her children, Christopher Helmes (Marla Castro), Christina Sandborn (Eric Thalison) and Haylee Haff-Badder; her grandchildren, Jacob Cantu (Kristina Cantu), Brendon Cantu and William "Will" Sandborn; her sister Vicki Nicewander (Harvey Dean Nicewander); lifetime friend, Terri Welch and special friend Bethany Wright. She was preceded in death by her son Joseph "Joey" Badder and her husband of 37 years, Joel "Joe" Badder.
Valorie owned and operated The Rummage Shop for 18 years with her husband Joe. Valorie was an avid animal lover and donated her time at the Ionia County Animal Shelter in the cat room petting cats. She also gave a lot of her time catching wild cats to get them spayed/neutered with the assistance of the Safe Haven Humane Society. She greatly enjoyed the TV shows Big Brother and Survivor. She would not accept a phone call or visitor when "her shows" were on. She delighted in thrift shopping and finding the "perfect gift" to make people feel special. She had a talent for interior design and drawing.
She will be greatly missed by her family and community.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 6, 2024, at The Moose Lodge in Ionia at 12:30pm. Arrangements cared for by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ionia County Animal Shelter or to the Safe Haven Humane Society of Ionia.
