Vanessa was born on November 11, 1957 to the parentage of Linzy Lee Rivers and Letha Mae (Napoleon) Rivers, in Shawnee Oklahoma. She was raised in Holtulka, Ok, and was a 1975 graduate of Tecumseh High School.
She married Glenn Alexander from Wetumka Ok and to this Union two children were born: a daughter Shana Alexander and a son Sean Alexander.
Vanessa loved dancing, cooking, flowers, decorating (she was very creative). She also loved to shop. She was very fashionable in her personal appearance and she loved High-end fashion. She was very compassionate to other people's feelings, and she had a funny sense of humor that would keep you laughing. There wasn't a selfish bone in her body. She truly loved her family, children and grandkids, she was very close to her brother and sisters and oftentimes talked about how she loved and miss them.
Vanessa worked many jobs in the Shawnee Community. She worked for Mission Hill hospital as a nurse, CTSA, OBU and who can forget about Shawnee garment Factory ( formerly known as Roundhouse) where she worked almost 20 plus years with her sisters until her health forced her to retire.
On Sunday July 27, 2025, at 9:57 a.m. Vanessa transitioned from her Earthly life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Linzy and Letha Rivers, Brother Leonard Lee Rivers, Sisters Velma Carr and Veada Capas.
