Vanessa R. Womack, a cherished pillar of the South Bend community, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, in her hometown of South Bend, Indiana. Born on March 6, 1960, to James and Joanna (Hogsett) Womack, Vanessa's life was a testament to her enduring spirit and her unwavering commitment to her family and those she served throughout her life.
Vanessa was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving daughters, Linda Bradshaw (Darcy), LaToshia Bradshaw, LeToya (Dennis) Bradshaw, LaTishia Bradshaw, Whitney (Ken) Bradshaw, Whitley Bradshaw, and Tamika Davis. Her legacy continues to thrive through her sisters, Diana, Tina, Maxine, Linda, and Carolyn; her brothers, Darnell, Jimmy, Ronald, Brian, James and Charles; her adoring grandchildren, Vernon, Verrontae, Vershawn, Vanessa, DeShannon, Michaela, Milee, Michael, Bry'Aunna, Charish, Lanise, Zy'Nise, Kennis, King, Kenise, Kenessa, Ty'Nise, Kennan, Kenzie, Kenza, Tyron, Tierra, Jennae, Taron, and Tyreese; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Vershawn Jr, Kyro, KahLias, Taylen, Desiree, Ja'Shawn, Kingston, Kadence, Kyaire, Da'Nessa, Kamya, Tamiyah, Alivia, Ashton, Taron Jr., Vernon IV, Da'Naiya, and Sanobia.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Tyron Bradshaw Sr, brother Joe B, sister Angelique, grandson Verron, nephew Darryl, and Billy.
After graduating from high school, Vanessa dedicated her professional life to the South Bend Community School Corporation, where she worked tirelessly as a laborer. Her colleagues remember her as a steadfast and hardworking individual, whose dedication to her job was matched only by her dedication to her family and friends. Her recent job was working a Buttons Laundry.
Vanessa's interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. Every morning, without fail, she could be found walking through the neighborhood, a routine that not only reflected her love for staying active but also her desire to connect with the community she so dearly loved. She had a special place in her heart for nature, particularly for the birds she fed daily, a simple joy that brought her immense peace and happiness.
Her unwavering commitment to helping people was evident in every aspect of her life. Vanessa's kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and her presence was a comfort to all who knew her. Her home was a haven for many, a place where laughter, love, and wisdom were generously shared.
Vanessa's influence and the love she shared will forever be remembered and cherished. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of compassion, resilience, and an unshakeable faith in the goodness of people. As we say goodbye to Vanessa R. Womack, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the indelible mark she has left on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
