Vaughn Dwight Barnes, age 57 and lifelong resident of Crossett, Arkansas, passed away on August 31, 2025. He was born on November 07, 1967 to his parents, Vernon and Sheila Harris Barnes.

He is a 1986 graduate of Crossett High School and worked for Georgia Pacific from 1987 until 1995 when he began working in maintenance for local nursing homes.

His greatest passion in life was volunteering for the local Fire Department at age 17. In the year 2000 he became Fire Chief of the West Crossett Volunteer Fire Department.

Vaughn had a love for fishing, hunting, and tinkering on small engines. It has been said that he possessed the patience of Job.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, LaVonda Turner.

His memory will live on in the hearts of his wife of 18 years, Jeannie Barnes; four children, Greg Barnes (Rina), Tyler Barnes (Ashley) and Lesa Marie Glover, all of Crossett, AR, and Micha Dione Barnes (Brittany) of Republic, MO; nine grandchildren, Jayden Glover and Ryan Glover, whom he raised as his very own, Eric Almond, Jacob Almond, Jake Barnes, Cambrie Barnes, Caleb Barnes, Isabella Barnes and Nicholas Barnes; two sisters, Rhonda Bowers (John) of Natchez, MS and Sondra Flanery of Henderson, TX along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Eden Cemetery in Hamburg, AR with Bro. Chris Sexton officiating. Pallbearers are Roy White, Phillip Lee, Marty Brown, John Welch, Gary Peters and Dan Kersey.

Visitation will be held at Jones Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, September 5th.
