Obituary published on Legacy.com by Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel on Nov. 12, 2024.
Velda Faye Limbach, 84, of Dalton, entered the presence of her Savior, Tuesday evening, November 5, 2024. Born in Massillon, September 11, 1940, a daughter to the late Henry and Pearl (Rockstroh) Netzly, Velda graduated from Massillon Washington High School with the Class of 1958. While at WHS she was a member of the National Honor Society and the first chair flautist in the Tiger "Swing" Band.
A treasured wife and a loving and supportive mom and grandma, Velda placed her husband, her family, and the farm at the center of her life. She loved the Lord with all her mind, all her heart, and all her strength as hers was a life of dedication to her home, her community, the agricultural community, and her faith community. Her work history included several different positions, perhaps most notably, in the early 1980's, serving as the director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Stark County. Early in her married life she worked as a keypunch operator for the Northern Ohio Breeders Association (NOBA) and later held administrative roles in the Ohio Heartland Sheep Improvement Association (OHSIA). Velda's commitment to her Christian faith led her to pursue active roles in each of the churches she attended throughout her life, beginning at St. James Church at Crossroads, then at Stanwood Community Church, Amherst Community Church, and more recently as a charter member of Amazing Grace Ministries in Beach City. In each of these church families, she taught Sunday school, conducted bible studies, organized and prepared church suppers, and was always one of the first to roll up her sleeves and pitch in wherever she could help.
Velda enjoyed a full and active life and lifestyle until only recently beset by illness. In her leisure time she was an accomplished amateur photographer, and she also enjoyed sewing, and gardening.
Predeceased by her parents; brothers, Vernon, Verl, and Marvin Netzly, and her great-grandson, Colter David Schumm; Velda is survived by her husband of 63 years, David F. Limbach – they married August 12, 1961, in Grace UCC in Massillon; daughter, Tamra Norris, of Massillon, and son, Craig Limbach (and Deb Harris), of Dalton; grandchildren, Chad and Dylan Norris, Logan Forrer, Blaire (Dakotta) Schumm, and Jarod Limbach; and her sister, Wanda Lee (David) Yehl.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2024, at Stanwood Community Church in Navarre. Pastors Toby Oaks and Robert Edinger will officiate, and burial will follow at Stanwood Cemetery. A calling hour from 12:00 p.m.- 1:00 p.m., will be conducted in the church prior to the service.
