Velma Louise Walkmaster (nee Shum), of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 83. Loving wife of the late Bruce A. Walkmaster; beloved daughter of the late Louella and Lloyd E. Shum; devoted mother of Carl (Kris) Walkmaster, Carolyn Jean (Brian) Miller, of Olathe, Kansas, and Sandra Lynn (Mark) Bullock, of Pennsylvania; loving grandmother and beloved great-grandmother; dear sister of Dorothy (Ray) Kraemer, the late Betty Shum, and Donald (Sherry) Shum.
Velma had a love for reading and traveling, and her strong faith was reflected in her active involvement with her church. A proud patriot, she supported the military, veterans, and her country with devotion. She dedicated her career to teaching; shaping the lives of countless students throughout the years, even volunteering to tutor in Lutheran schools after her retirement. Velma was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Velma's name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
