VELMA JEAN WRIGHT

Velma Jean Wright, 94, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away at home on January 24, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following will be a private family burial at Longview Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.

Velma was born on August 5, 1931 in Napoleon, Missouri to Eugene Thurmon and Velma (Williams). Velma graduated from Lexington High School and worked much of her life as a realtor and more recently at Walmart. In life, Velma loved spending time with her family, spending time at the lake camping and fishing, and loved square dancing.

Velma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Wright; parents Eugene and Velma Wright; great granddaughter, Sophia Libby-Jean Scrivener; and four siblings, Nadine Boman, Lyman Thurmon, Lorna Finkemeier, and James Thurmon.

She is survived by her two sons: Christan Wright and Brent Wright; eight grandchildren, Allyson Hopkins, Abigail Wright, Kristina Wright, Kelsey Miller, Shannon Wright, Jackson Wright, Holden Wright, and Lindsey Heath; seven great grandchildren, Hank, Maylee, Hayslee, Slayton, William, Aaliyah, and Alijah; and two sisters, Lois Colberson and Laura Vanarsdale.
