Venera Gibilisco Tribute PLAINVILLE - Venera Gibilisco, 84, passed away on November 16, 2022 surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was the loving wife of Santo Gibilisco for 66 years.
Venera was born on June 9, 1938 in Sicily, Italy to the late Sebastiano Alibrio and Agata Gallo.
Venera and her husband Santo came to the United States in 1970 with their two oldest children Maria and Salvatore and in 1972 their third child Santo was born.
Venera worked at General Electric in Plainville for many years.
She was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Plainville. She was also a member of St. Anthony Society of our Lady of Mercy.
Our fondest memories of Venera was when she was in the kitchen cooking for her family. She loved gathering her children and grandchildren for Sunday dinners. She enjoyed traveling back to Italy to visit relatives, spending time with friends and had a love for gardening.
Along with her husband, she is survived by their three children, Maria and her husband Bob Stoj of Farmington, their two children Allyson and Alessandra and her husband Matthew Goetz of South Carolina. Salvatore Gibilisco of Plainville, Santo Gibilisco his wife Melissa of Plainville, their two children Michael and Olivia. She is also survived by her brother Salvatore Alibrio his wife Immacolata Messina and her sister Nella Alibrio of Solarino, Sicily. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Maria Alibrio of Sardegna and Domenica Calafiore of New Britain.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Pines of Bristol for their wonderful end of life care they gave her.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Street in Plainville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 22 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St. in Plainville. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Plainville.
