Venita Jean Rogers, age 89 of Abilene passed away, Thursday, August 7, 2025, in an assisted living in Brownwood.

A graveside service for Venita will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, August 12, at Rising Star Cemetery in Rising Star.

She was born June 4, 1936, to J.E. and Nona (Tidwell) Sanders in Rising Star. Venita was an only child. She married B.C. Rogers on June 14, 1975, in Abilene. She was a member of the Highland Church of Christ in Abilene.

Venita attended elementary through high school in Rising Star, graduating in 1954. Venita attended and graduated Abilene Christian College (ACU) in 1974 with a BA in Education. Venita worked for the Abilene State School for 29 years and retired, but continued volunteer work for the State supported Living Center/RSVP while amassing over 2000 hours of volunteer service. Venita also conducted "Emotions Anonymous" gatherings at the local TDCJ for the inmates. Venita was a member of the local ABL senior bowling league, ABL senior fun bunch also known as the "Coffee Bowlers League". Venita loved photography and had entries in the West Texas Fair and Abilene's quarterly ArtWalk at times.

Venita is survived by cousins Judy Linville of Killeen and Shannon, Amy and Ryan Dudley of Rising Star.

Venita was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two aunts.

The family wishes to thank Solaris Hospice (Brownwood), Redstone Park assisted living (Brownwood) staff, University Place independent living (Abilene), for their care/assistance of Venita in the past few years.
