Venita Sanders

Bennington, OK- Venita Sanders was born Monday, May 30th, 1932 in Corinne, Oklahoma. She went to meet her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 13, 2022 from Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 89.
At a young age, Venita was raised and attended school at Goodland Academy in Choctaw County, Oklahoma. She was very proud of the schooling she received there. Venita worked as a homemaker and seamstress all of her life. She was a loving and supportive wife to her husband, Robert. Together, they had six children and were married over sixty-two years until his death on November 23, 2011.
Venita was very involved with the United Methodist Women and member of Sulphur Springs Indian Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing Choctaw hymns, reading her Bible and doing crossword puzzles. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners football team.
Venita was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and brother, Olin Dixon Durant.
She is survived by her children, Robert "Bobby" Sanders and his partner, Chasity Casey, of Bennington, OK, Patricia Philaw and her husband, Scott, of Durant, Cynthia Burch and her partner, Jimmy Farrell, of Durant, Doretha "Razza" Collier of Bennington, Ronnie Joe Sanders and his wife, Tambre, of Marietta, OK, and Michelle "Shelly" Henson and her husband, Jeff, of Grand Prairie, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and her church family.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 19th, from 4-6 PM at Brown's Funeral Home in Durant.
