Venus Goodeill
April 11, 1950 – January 31, 2026
Venus Goodeill, born on April 11, 1950, in
Pawtucket, Rhode Island, passed away on January 31, 2026, in
Salida, California.
Venus is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, William Goodeill; her two children, Angie Traynor (Bud) and Harold Goodeill; and her daughter-in-law, Alia Gray. She leaves behind nine grandchildren whom she adored: Willie, Katie, Kingston, Jaelynn, Jovi, Jesenia, Jerico, Remi, and Atlas. She is also survived by her three sisters, Davetta Huerta (Isabel), April Mitcher, and Dawn Kleyla, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
For over 26 years, Venus worked for Storer Transportation as a bus driver, where she transported special needs and behaviorally challenged students throughout the Modesto School District. She approached her work with patience, compassion, and dedication.
Venus was actively involved in her community and was a proud leader of Salida TOPS. She absolutely loved her Bunco group and treasured the monthly gatherings with friends, filled with laughter and camaraderie. She also dedicated countless years volunteering with Newark Bobby Sox, where she held many positions and ultimately became the Commissioner of the Bay Area leagues, a role she carried with great pride.
In her free time, Venus enjoyed visiting local casinos, where she was famously lucky. She was an avid bowler and a longtime member of the Lido Match Club in Newark and McHenry Bowl in Modesto. She was also an avid collector of giraffes, loved butterflies, and took great joy in tending to her garden. Above all else, Venus deeply loved her grandchildren and was their biggest supporter, attending their activities and doing anything and everything she could for them.
Venus will be remembered for her generous heart, her strength, her devotion to her family, and the joy she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
